ECOSYSTEX Insights Series #10

On 13 September 2024, for the 10th edition of the ECOSYSTEX Insights Series dissemination webinar, we welcomed four ECOSYSTEX member projects and explored a wide range of textile sustainability & circularity research topics. Åsa Degerman from Södra presented LIFE TREATS's plan to recycling textile in Europe, and Bruno Marengo from Fairbrics showed how THREADING-CO2 valorises CO2 waste streams into polyester textile products. We will also heard from VTTs' Pirjo Heikkilä who detailed tExtended's framework for extended textile circulation. Lastly, Nikola Matović from Technische Universität Berlin discussed the sustainable bio-based systems that STAR4BBS is working on using effective certification and labelling.

ECOSYSTEX Insights Series #9

On 31 May 2024, for the ninth edition of the ECOSYSTEX Insights Series dissemination webinar, we welcomed four ECOSYSTEX member projects and explored a wide range of textile sustainability & circularity research topics, funded by the EU. The CISUTAC project presented four 2035 future scenarios and their newly developed textile waste decision support tool. The CALIMERO project goes beyond the life cycle sustainability assessment methodology and explained how. The SCIRT project discussed challenges of a textile-to-textile recycling journey from a brand perspective. The Hemp4Circularity project talked about their first results of mechanically cultivated long fibre hemp in Europe.

ECOSYSTEX Insights Series #8

On 8 March 2024, for the eighth edition of the ECOSYSTEX Insights Series dissemination webinar, we welcomed four ECOSYSTEX member projects, including one concluding soon and one that just recently started. As the New Cotton Project is coming to an end soon, it presented its final results on demonstrating a circular model for commercial garment production. The T-Rex project discussed their whitepaper on digital solutions for waste and material mapping aspects of the project. SUSTRACK shared recent project developments on their identification and consolidation of the barriers to transitioning to a circular bio-based economy. Finally, the PESCO-UP project, which started recently, introduced how they will approach upcycling mixed textile waste into clean materials for the next use cycle.

ECOSYSTEX Insights Series #7

On 9 February 2024, for the seventh edition of the ECOSYSTEX Insights Series dissemination webinar we welcomed the CBE-JU project officer Simone Maccaferri and our three active member projects that focus on bio-based materials: The Circular Bio-Based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE-JU) presented their funding opportunities for circular & biobased textiles topics in 2024. The FIBSUN project introduced their project, which will explore novel fibre value chains and ecosystem services derived from sustainable feedstocks. The Bio-LUSH project showcased how they will approach innovation in biomass conversion to nano-fibres for the development of eco-friendly materials. Finally, the Glaukos project discussed recent achievements on biobased coatings for the clothing and fishing industry.

ECOSYSTEX Insights Series #6

On 17 November 2023, Textile ETP organised the 6th Insights Series webinar, where participants learned about the EFFECTIVE project that presented its final results on how to produce more sustainable bio-based fibers and plastics for large consumer products by using renewable feedstocks and innovative technologies. The New Cotton Project shared insights into their ongoing LCA work for textile fibre-to-fibre recycling. T-Rex project shared an update on their latest development. Zero-F presented an update on their work of developing PFAS alternatives. Participants also met the new ECOSYSTEX community member Colour4CRAFTS, that introduced its project.
